France retaliates after Paris attacks

  • France launched its first bombing campaign on ISIS targets after the Russian Air Force flew 141 bombing raids into Syria over the weekend, destroying 472 ISIS targets. Russian bombings over Syria stem from an ISIS bombing of a Russian airliner back in October, which killed all 224 people on board. The French bombing raids were targeted at Raqqa, the center IS operations in Syria.

UK joins allied forces against ISIS

  • David Cameron, UK Prime Minister, said that it is his “firm conviction” that the UK should join allied bombings in Syria. He will be making his case to Parliament this week, which is expected to hold a vote before Christmas.
  • “I firmly support the action that President Hollande has taken to strike ISIL in Syria and it is my firm conviction that Britain should do so, too. Of course, that will be a decision for Parliament to make.”

NRA lobbies against gun control law for suspected terrorists

  • The NRA worked with Republicans to block a law that would stop suspected terrorists from buying guns in the U.S. Currently, there is a loophole that allows suspected terrorists on the government’s no-fly list to legally buy guns. Over 2,000 suspects on the FBI’s Terrorist Watchlist have bought weapons.
